Activity Fitness Journals

My Activity Fitness Journal was a gift given to me a few months after I had my second daughter. Feeling physically drained from caring for my 2 year old and newborn, emotionally down from the extra weight gained during the pregnancy and being just plain busy were all factors which made establishing an exercise routine simply overwhelming. I tried a few different things but a pattern emerged where I would be enthusiastic for a week or two and it would fall off after that, and I wasn't seeing any progress.

Using the general fitness journal helped me to organize my own routine that I was comfortable with and interested in. It required the charting of information that I wasn't keeping track of before and wasn't aware that those could be factors that were holding me back. Seeing my progress mapped out was a tangible tracking which not only kept track of where I had been, but it also made me aware of skipping days and, in a way, was something that I didn't want to have to answer to when the spaces were left blank! I also used the calander portion to keep track of how many meals a week I was 'cheating'. It is easy to lose track of that and think that you're treating yourself to something when you're busy, but having it tracked was a wake up call- I think before I used the fitness journal, I was cheating more than I was being good and I wasn't even aware of it! Times when my resolve might have waivered, I was encouraged knowing that the tracking would hold me accountable.

Using Activity fitness journals really did help me get on track, stay on track AND I actually enjoyed it as a challange which felt organized enough to be surmountable.
